1 arrested with 30g of heroin: The Tribune India

Jalandhar: A team from the Special Operations Group (Narcotics) Unit of Jalandhar Police arrested a youth and seized 30 grams of heroin in his possession. The accused has been identified as Nishan Singh, alias Shaani. Police said the accused was traveling from Kapurthala chowk side to Patel chowk when the police team stopped him at a checkpoint. Inderjit Singh, head of the anti-narcotics cell, said the accused worked as a steel rebar maker but after he had an accident and lost his job, he started dealing drugs. He said a case under Sections 21-B, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been filed against him. TNS

Two accused of deception

Garhshankar: A case has been filed against two people including a woman who are accused of deceiving a person out of Rs 5.50 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad. In the complaint filed with the Hoshiarpur SSP, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Beenewal, alleged that Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of Kharar, and Jaswinder Preet, a resident of Pathlawa village in Banga, took Rs 5.50 lakh from him under pretext to send his son abroad. Later, he didn’t send it overseas and refused to return the money. Garhshankar Police have registered a case against Sukhwinder and Jaswinder under the Cheating and Human Trafficking Act. CO

Thieves target 2 religious places

Hoshiarpur: Unidentified thieves stole money and valuables from two religious places on Sunday evening. Parminderjit Singh, a resident of Panjoda village, filed a complaint with the Mehtiana police. He said he is the sevadar of Gurdwara Beri Sahib located in the village. According to him, another gurdwara sahib sevadar, Trilok Singh, informed him that the unidentified robbers broke the golak and took away about 6,000 rupees in cash and an LED television. Apart from this, the accused also cut the wires of the CCTV cameras installed in the gurdwara sahib. Unidentified thieves also took money from Gurdwara Shaheed Mahinder Singh ji located in Pandori village. The police have recorded cases. CO

Money stolen from gurdwara

Garhshankar: An unidentified thief broke the golak and stole around Rs 8,000 from the Basiala village gurdwara under the Garhshankar police station. Basiala resident Gurdev Singh told Garhshankar police that he was the main sevadar of gurdwara Baba Budh Singh. On Sunday evening, a thief broke the gurdwara sahib’s golak and stole about Rs 8,000 from it. Garhshankar Police have registered a case against an unidentified thief. CO

An inmate with intoxicants

Hoshiarpur: Police from Dasuya Police Station arrested a smuggler and seized 10 grams of intoxicating powder in his possession. The accused was identified as Jaspal Singh, a resident of Mangarh. A case under the NDPS Act has been filed against him.
