LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Twelve suspected drug traffickers have been arrested while more than 3 million pesos worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in Benguet and Kalinga during a week-long illegal anti-drug operation.
The Regional Police Office-Cordillera Regional Operations Division, in a report, said that from May 15-21, the Baguio City Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests with six senior figures from drugs, followed by Apayao Provincial Police Office (PPO) and Benguet PPO with two arrests each and Abra PPO and Kalinga PPO with one arrest each.
In Baguio, the drug figures arrested were identified as 25-year-old Arjay Simeon; Ibalson Cadangen, 37; Rey Christopher Abero, 38; Ronald Ellana, 33; Janewen Lui, 42; and Karlo Ibarra, 31.
In Apayao, police arrested John Arian Magro, 27, and Cleo Tabbu, 40. In Benguet, Joemamel Dipatuan, 37, and Ellaine Cariaso, 37, were arrested.
Authorities apprehended Jojemar Bagni, 31, in Abra, and Gian Vincent dela Cruz, 29, in Kalinga.
A total of 18.19 grams of alleged shabu with a standard drug price (SDP) of P123,692 and the confiscation of a total of 1,000.9 grams of dried marijuana leaves with a SDP of P120,108 entered in separate purchase transactions.
During the ongoing marijuana eradication conducted in Benguet, the police destroyed a total of 4,350 Fully Grown Marijuana Plants (FGMJP) with an SDP of 870,000P and 5,000 pieces of dried marijuana leaves with an SDP of 600,000 p.
In Kalinga, a total of 8,500 adult marijuana plants with an SDP of 1.7 million pesos and 1,000 grams of marijuana seeds with an SDP of 25,000 pesos were destroyed.
