Impure, May 11 (MExN): The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) organized the Clean Election Movement (CEM) campaign for Arkakong and Angetyongpang constituencies under Mokokchung district at Longmisa Baptist Church and Chichuyimlang Baptist Church respectively May 10.
ABAM Executive Secretary Reverend Dr Mar Pongener in the press release said that during the movement the most deliberate concerns were the distribution of money, patriotism and the open influx of alcohol and other intoxicants that led the innocents into captivity. “…the cry of every individual was the need for a paradigm shift in the electoral system for the next Nagaland Legislative Assembly, starting with potential candidates and the general public,” he said.
“ABAM is extremely happy to see the determination of the people to clear this current political imbroglio by observing a fair and clean election,” he said while adding that ABAM will continue to cover all constituencies in Mokokchung district with the fair and clean message. election.
He also said that in such a case where everyone yearns for a change in the electoral system, the task of the church, village council and apex bodies has become very crucial. “The influx of intoxicants and other malfeasance during the election are also serious concerns for Nagas today during the election. Change is the need of the hour and the only way for us Nagas to being free from all unfortunate eventualities being very clear, ABAM is determined to continue the movement”, he affirmed.
The campaign was held as an extension of the CEM launched on August 27, 2021, said a press release published by. He was attended by 190 members from 12 churches including church leaders, village council, Langpangkong Tsükong Mungdang (highest supreme body in the range) and other supreme bodies.
This is the third phase of the movement organized under the Mokokchung district by the ABAM Clean Election movement. Previously, the CEM with the apex bodies of Mokokchung City and Impur Ward had been held on separate occasions.
