Arrest in Newport Steak & Seafood fire | New

A 55-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly starting a fire at a restaurant on Route 101 in Newport.

Firefighters responded to Newport Steak & Seafood early Saturday morning to find the exterior of the restaurant on fire. They were able to contain the fire mostly outside the building, although the restaurant owner noted on his Facebook page that he suffered smoke and water damage inside. Newport Fire Chief Rob Murphy could not be reached Monday for further details.
