CHC random drug test results coming soon

CEBU CITY, Philippines—Results of random drug tests conducted by the Cebu City Police Bureau (CCPO) will be sent today, March 4, 2022.

“Wala pa diha ang in charge but the official report will be sent karon.” explained by the city’s deputy director of operations, police Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla.

Parilla mentioned last Monday, February 28, that there were six cops who failed to show up for a surprise drug test on February 27. Those who have not provided a valid reason for their absence will be subject to an administrative investigation.

Parilla clarified, however, that four of the six staff members were in court at the time and were able to complete their drug tests that day.

Meanwhile, the two remaining cops who failed to show up for their drug tests were also at Sibonga in training.

When asked if this would be the last time they would carry out unannounced doping tests, Parilla replied that there would be others.

“There will be a series of drug tests and the same will be random as it is part of our internal cleansing. All staff should undergo drug tests every year,” he said.

In addition to this, he warns Cebu City police officers to stay away from drug-related activities and even illegal gambling.

“Avoid involving or even using drugs and even using illegal gambling is already an administrative offence. How much more if they are found to be drug positive,” Parilla said.

The Philippine National Police’s Internal Cleansing Program is an effort to promote transparency and accountability in the public service.
