New Delhi: The Delhi High Court ordered police to register an FIR against Shahnawaz Hussain in a 2018 rape case.long with this, the High Court ordered the Delhi Police to complete the investigation in three months.
According News18the Delhi High Court said that after considering all the facts, it is clear that there was complete reluctance on the part of the police until the registration of the FIR in this case.
The High Court also said the report submitted by the police to the magistrates’ court was not the final report. The trial court dismissed the police argument and said the woman’s complaint contained an recognizable offence.
Police had filed a report in court and said the case against Shahnawaz Hussain was unproven, but in January 2018, a woman residing in Delhi filed a petition in the lower court and sought the registration of a FIR against Hussain for rape.
The woman alleged that Shahnawaz Hussain gave her intoxicants and raped her at a farm in Chhatarpur. She also alleged that he threatened to kill her.
Meanwhile, lead barrister Siddharth Luthra, representing the BJP leader, told the court that Delhi police had given his client a free kick, despite his magistrate’s order to register an FIR.
Luthra had also told the court that the police response to the woman’s complaint in court should be treated as a dismissal report because none of the allegations were substantiated.
