CEBU CITY – A food delivery man and his cousin were arrested on Saturday with around PHP 35 million worth of illegal drugs, believed to be shabu, in an undercover operation on a downtown street here, believed by City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) as its biggest transport. away this year.

Major Jonathan Taneo, the head of CDEU who led the buyout operation on Panganiban Street in Barangay Pahina Central, identified the suspects as Shelljay Centino Cuyno and Dennis Centino, both 24 years old and residents of Barangay Hermitage.

The suspects were to deliver 125 grams of shabu, unaware that it was a legally authorized test-buy operation. Authorities handcuffed them after handing over the item.

In the ensuing search, officers found 5.12 kilos worth PHP 34.8 million, based on current market value.

Cuyno, in an interview with the media, admitted that they were involved in transporting illegal drugs on behalf of a certain Pastor Gonzales.

Police are verifying reports that Gonzales is being held here.

“This is another successful counter-drug operation led by our CDEU. This is the greatest and most recent accomplishment of the police in the city,” Lt. Col. Ryan Devaras, of the deputy director of administration for the Cebu City Police Bureau.
