BANGOR, Maine – A Glenburn man was arrested for possession of drugs and firearms after a traffic stop on Friday, November 18.
Bangor police arrested Ryan Thibodeau, 37, after detecting illegal drugs in the vehicle Thibodeau was driving with the help of a K-9 partner, according to a news release issued by the Bangor Police Department.
“Thibodeau has recently been the subject of several inter-agency information-sharing memos indicating that he may be in possession of drugs and firearms and may be seeking an armed confrontation with ISIS forces. order,” the statement said.
Officers reportedly found illegal drugs on Thibodeau’s person, as well as illegal drugs and a loaded handgun found in the vehicle after he was arrested and searched.
Due to previous criminal convictions, Thibodeau is not permitted to own a firearm, the statement said.
Thibodeau is charged with Aggravated Trafficking in a Scheduled Drug, a Class A felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, a Class C felony, and was incarcerated in Penobscot County Jail.
