NAGTIPUNAN, Quirino — Aksyon Demokratiko flag bearer Isko Moreno Domagoso on Thursday denied openly promoting illegal drug use by frequently using the “two knuckles” hand sign, which has long been linked to marijuana use.
The hand sign usually refers to the way some addicts hold their marijuana sticks, with the ring finger and little finger up.
“Drugs are prohibited by our law. It’s not drugs, it’s 2 joints:
Isko, Doc Willie,” Domagoso told reporters when asked to explain why he uses the hand sign.
“Yorme, Ong,” he said, saying the raised fingers looked like a “Y” while the bent ones symbolized an “O.”
Although he frequently flashes the “two knuckle” hand sign, Domagoso says he’s against the use of marijuana, even for medical purposes.

Domagoso said he used the hand sign for the first time during an outing in Cotabato, where several people flashed the hand sign and shouted “two joints” during one of his motorcades.
“I always wanted to identify with our constituency,” he said.
“I think one of the elements of leadership is that you understand your people. When you understand them, then makakagawa ka ng mga polisiya na direkta sa kanila (then you can make policies against them),” he said. he declares.
Regarding the marijuana-related slogan “don’t panic, it’s organic”, which Domagoso also used, the presidential candidate said it can be applied to their attitude towards their polls pre-elections.
In Pulse Asia’s January 2022 survey, Domagoso shared third place with Senator Manny Pacquiao, each scoring 8%, while former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. led the polls with 60 percentage points. .
“Organic na lumaki eh (he grew organically),” Domagoso explained, referring to viral videos of him flashing the “two joints” sign.
“Kaya (We say) don’t panic, [because] we don’t panic. You ask us for our numbers, we don’t panic,” he said.
The presidential aspirant pointed out that he has repeatedly proven his stance against narcotics, noting that he has never used illegal drugs, even when he was underage.
Last year, Domagoso and his running mate Willie Ong were among candidates who voluntarily underwent drug testing at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency after President Rodrigo Duterte claimed a presidential candidate presidency was known to use cocaine.
