Officer Struck By Impaired Driver While Investigating Crash That Injured Another Officer In Northeast Portland | Local News


PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A Portland police officer’s patrol vehicle was struck by an impaired driver on Sunday evening. During the crash investigation, police said another officer was struck by another impaired driver while questioning witnesses on the sidewalk.

At around 11:19 p.m., an officer was walking to a call with his headlights and sirens on as he walked down Northeast Sandy Boulevard when a driver exiting a parking lot attempted to cross all lanes of traffic to head towards the west on Northeast Prescott Street and crashed into the officer. Police said the officer’s patrol vehicle continued to descend northeast of Sandy, hitting and knocking over a utility pole.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Two suspects are still at large after shooting at Portland police officers on Saturday night as they fled from them.

The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.

The other driver, Bonnie L. Harvey, 51, of Portland, was also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She was fined for impaired driving and reckless driving.

During the crash investigation, police said officers were talking to a witness on the sidewalk in front of a driveway when an “angry” driver pulled over yelling everyone to move and to move. leave his property. Police say the driver got impatient and drove his car into the group of six standing on the sidewalk, hitting an officer with the car while the others were able to jump out of the way.

Police said the driver, Paul Daniel Dillon, 46, of Portland, did not cooperate when officers told him he was under arrest. During a brief scuffle with Dillon, a taser was used against him in order to stop him.

Dillon was held in Multnomah County Jail for drunk driving, reckless driving and resisting arrest. Investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be recommended.

Police said the officer struck by Dillon was not injured.
