Policeman arrested for rape in Jind

Jind female police on Sunday arrested a police officer for raping a woman in the district. The accused was identified as Vijay, a police officer working in Jind. Police said they were checking his rank.

The victim, from Jind, said she came into contact with the police officer in 2016 and he offered her a drink containing the intoxicant.

“He engaged in a physical relationship and made a video of the whole incident. The policeman continued to blackmail me repeatedly in order to obtain sexual favours. When I refused any sexual favours, the cop raped me at gunpoint,” the woman added.

Geeta, an investigative officer from Jind Women’s Police Station, said she charged the accused officer with rape and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

“We have opened an investigation into the matter. The accused cop has not yet been arrested,” added the investigator.
