Sisi highlights direct benefits of converting vehicles to CNG for citizens

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi inaugurates the first exhibition on the conversion of vehicles to compressed natural gas – Presidency

CAIRO – January 4, 2020: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said on Monday that the national initiative to replace old cars and convert vehicles to natural gas will have direct benefits for citizens.

Old passenger cars would be replaced by new, latest generation, low-cost gas-powered cars with great financial facilities, low interest rates and long-term loans, the presidency said.

Sissi met with representatives of the largest international companies attending the country’s first exhibition on Monday morning to review technologies for converting cars to natural gas operation. The exhibition is called “Go Green”.

The meeting included Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli as well as the ministers of trade and industry, finance, local development, petroleum and transport. The presidential adviser for financial affairs, Major General Mohamed Amin, also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, officials discussed the cooperation between automobile production companies in Egypt and government agencies, as part of the national initiative.

“These measures complement the state’s strategy to raise the standard of living of citizens and provide them with the best services,” said the presidency.

The initiative to convert cars to compressed natural gas (CNG) will be launched in this exhibition.

The exhibition is organized under the auspices of Sisi and in cooperation with government agencies as well as international and local companies specializing in this field, added Radi.

In a tweet, Sisi said: “Today I inspected the first exhibit of technology to convert cars to clean energy.”

“I was satisfied with what I saw on the production [made by] Egyptian hands in building an integrated system to convert cars to natural gas, ”he added.
