Ludhiana Rural Police caught three smugglers in separate incidents and recovered a large quantity of intoxicating tablets from them.
In the first case, Sadar Jagraon’s police caught Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopa, of Jagraon and recovered 1,040 intoxicating tablets, a cell phone and a scooter. ASI’s Major Singh said information had been received that the suspect was on his way to deliver a consignment of drugs. After that, a naka was dropped off at a specific location where the man on the scooter was arrested for checking and banned tablets were seized.
The police also caught Lakhbir Singh Bawa from Rasulpur village and recovered 1,100 intoxicating pills and a motorbike.
ASI investigating officer Major Singh said information had been received that the suspect was traveling to Dagia village from Rasulpur village to deliver a consignment of drugs to his customers. He was arrested for a check at a checkpoint and a search of his property enabled the banned drugs to be recovered.
In another incident, Jodhan police caught Lakhwinder Singh Lakhi from Latala village and recovered 200 intoxicating tablets from them.
ASI Gurdeep Singh said that following intelligence, a raid was carried out at the home of the suspect from where the tablets were collected. He said customers used to visit the suspect’s home to purchase prohibited drugs.
