A total of 88.83 billion pesos of illicit drugs, controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPEC) and laboratory equipment were seized by government anti-narcotics agents from July 1, 2016 to March 31, 2022.
In the latest #Real Numbers PH, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that 11,788.33 kilograms of shabu worth 76.17 billion pesos were confiscated while 530.24 kilograms of cocaine, 163,295 pieces of ecstasy and 10,157.27 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves were also confiscated during the 233,356 anti-illegal drug operations conducted during the same period.
A total of 336,796 drug figures were arrested while another 6,241 were killed during the operations.
In addition to the illegal drugs seized, anti-narcotics officers dismantled a total of 1,111 drug dens and 19 clandestine laboratories for a total of 1,130.
The report also noted that there were a total of 24,766 drug addictions out of the 42,045 barangays in the country with 10,704 barangays yet to be cleared and another 6,575 identified as drug-free barangays.
Government counter-narcotics personnel also rescued 4,307 minors between the ages of 4 and 14 who were involved in illegal drug-related activities.
Of these, 2,532 were dealers, three were cultivators, 234 were drug visitors, nine were drug maintainers, 17 were drug clerks, one clan lab clerk, two runners, 522 users, and 987 caught in possession of prohibited drugs.
Government employees have not been spared from the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign as 1,053 people have been arrested, including 527 government employees, 400 elected officials and 126 uniformed personnel.
During the same period, 14,888 people listed as high value targets (HVT) were arrested, including 360 foreign nationals, 400 elected officials, 126 uniformed personnel, 527 government employees, 4,030 people targeted, 797 members and leaders of drug groups, 78 members of armed groups, 1,619 leaders of drug dens, 295 people wanted on the narcotics list, 24 celebrities and business license holders and 6,632 other people arrested in connection with high impact operations.
The PDEA report also noted that 8,176.81 kg. of shabu, 4,226, 33 kg of marijuana, 21.93 kg. of ecstasy, 534.20 kg. of cocaine and 3,483.67 kg. other dangerous drugs have been destroyed by anti-narcotics authorities. (Chito A. Chavez)
