AFD responds to a structural fire
The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire Monday morning in the area of I-40 and S. Nelson. The first engine crew arrived to find a fire coming from the roof at the rear of a commercial building.
Firefighters cut through a chain-link fence and forced their way in through the back door of the metal building.
Firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly before it spread to the entire structure.
No injuries were reported. The fire started just inside the back door of a bathroom ceiling, AFD said. There were no occupants inside at the time.
